How do I join Care N Tidy as a cleaner?
Register using the form on this page with your name, contact details, the areas you can cover and your cleaning experience. We check your details, complete our vetting, then start introducing you to clients booking near you.
Do I work for Care N Tidy, or for myself?
For yourself. Care N Tidy is an introductory agency, not an employer. You stay self employed, you decide which bookings to accept, and you keep your own way of working.
Is there a fee to register as a cleaner?
No. Registering costs nothing. Care N Tidy earns a commission on the bookings you take, and that commission is already included in the price the client sees.
How much commission does Care N Tidy take?
Commission runs from 1% to 49% depending on the booking and is calculated automatically by the platform. It is built into the price quoted to the client rather than taken off you as a separate charge.
How much can I earn as a self employed cleaner?
Domestic and commercial cleaning is charged by the hour at a rate agreed before the booking starts. Specialist work such as carpet, oven and after builders cleaning is priced per job. What you earn depends on the hours you take and the areas you cover.
Do I need my own cleaning equipment and products?
For most domestic bookings you bring your own products and equipment, or agree with the client on what they supply. Carpet and upholstery work needs your own professional extraction equipment.
Can I choose my own hours?
Yes. You set your availability and take only the bookings that suit you. Many cleaners work around school hours, study or a second job.
Can I work part time?
Yes. There is no minimum number of hours. Some cleaners take a few regular bookings a week, others fill a full working week.
Do I need previous cleaning experience?
Experience of cleaning to a professional standard helps, but it is not essential if you are reliable, thorough and willing to learn what clients expect.
What checks do I need to pass?
Every cleaner we introduce is vetted before taking bookings, and you will need the right to work in the UK. That vetting is what gives clients the confidence to book through us.
Do I need to be registered as self employed?
Yes, or be willing to register. Because Care N Tidy does not employ you, your own tax and National Insurance are your responsibility.
Which London boroughs can I work in?
Can I cover more than one borough or area?
Yes. Tell us the postcodes or boroughs you can reach and we will only introduce bookings inside them. Plenty of cleaners cover two or three neighbouring boroughs.
Is there cleaning work outside London?
Yes. Alongside London we introduce cleaners in Coventry, the West Midlands, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Do I need a car to take cleaning work?
Not always, but you do need to reach your bookings reliably and on time. In London many cleaners work by public transport across a small group of neighbouring boroughs.
What types of cleaning work will I be offered?
Regular home cleaning, one off deep cleans, end of tenancy and move out work, commercial and office cleaning, and specialist jobs such as carpet, upholstery, oven and after builders cleaning. Laundry and ironing are not offered as an add on.
How do I get paid for bookings?
Bookings and payment are handled through Care N Tidy, so for platform bookings you are not chasing clients for money or raising your own invoices.
What happens if a client is not happy with a clean?
The client can raise it within 24 hours, and where something has been missed it gets put right. Being clear with the client about what a booking covers prevents most problems.
What if I need to cancel a booking?
Tell us as early as you can. Clients are asked to give 24 hours notice for changes and we ask the same of cleaners, so the other side can be told in good time.
How soon can I start taking bookings?
Once your details are confirmed and vetting is complete we introduce you to clients as soon as suitable bookings come up in the areas you cover.
