- Purpose
This policy explains the terms under which our company introduces self-employed cleaners to clients. It clarifies the responsibilities of all parties, including liability, conduct, and any goodwill discounts offered in case of disputes, in line with UK laws.
- Our Role
- We operate as an introduction/connection service only.
- The cleaners we connect to families or households are self-employed contractors, not employees or agents of our company.
- The contract for cleaning services exists directly between the client and the cleaner.
- We do not supervise or control the work carried out, and we are not responsible for the day-to-day conduct of the cleaner.
- Cleaner Responsibilities
Self-employed cleaners must:
- Provide services to the client in a professional, lawful, and safe manner.
- Comply with all relevant UK health & safety laws.
- Be responsible for their own tax, National Insurance, and insurance cover (including Public Liability Insurance).
- Accept full responsibility for any damage or loss they cause while working for the client.
- Resolve disputes directly with the client in good faith.
- Damage or Loss
- As cleaners are self-employed, they are personally liable for any damage, theft, or loss caused during their work.
- Any compensation, repair, or replacement costs must be agreed between the cleaner and the client.
- Our company may, at its discretion, help to mediate but does not accept legal liability.
- Discounts & Goodwill Gestures
- If a client reports a genuine service issue within 24 hours, and it is confirmed that the cleaner failed to meet reasonable standards, the cleaner should offer:
- A partial refund, or
- A reasonable discount (typically 10%–30%) on the next service.
- Our company may offer a goodwill credit on future bookings arranged through us, but this is discretionary and does not imply legal responsibility.
- Complaints Procedure
- All complaints should be raised directly with the cleaner first.
- If no resolution is reached, clients may contact us for mediation.
- Any theft allegations should be reported to the police immediately.
- Legal Status
- This arrangement is governed by UK contract law and the Employment Status guidance from HMRC.
- By booking through our service, clients acknowledge that cleaners are independent contractors and not employees of our company.
- Governing Law
This policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales (or Scotland/Northern Ireland depending on jurisdiction).
